The Lake Minnetonka Half Marathon and Freshwater have partnered together to preserve and protect Lake Minnetonka.
Through this partnership, we aim to educate and inspire people to value, conserve, and protect freshwater resources in and around Lake Minnetonka.
The Run for Lake Minnetonka Fund benefits Freshwater and their efforts to:
Support the work by over 50 Master Water Stewards certified in the Lake Minnetonka area who install rain gardens and champion storm water management projects that contribute directly to improve lake water quality.
Work with surrounding cities, watershed organizations, and other groups on projects that result in policies and programs that improve water quality.
Host workshops and conferences on lake and stream issues that are designed to educate and equip people to go back and work in their areas.
Work with lake associations and community groups on water improvement projects, providing guidance easily accessible on Freshwater’s website for groups wishing to hold a Community Cleanup for Water Quality or eligible water quality projects. Groups include organizations, such as the Lake Minnetonka Association, Westonka Walleye Program and LMCD's Save the Lake program.
